Abstract

India is known as a Land of Diversity in geological formations, climatic conditions, flora and fauna, human population and in several other parameters of present era. It is distinctly different from any of the modern nations that were declared sovereign in terms of their own identities. Modern scholars mostly from the Western European orientation imbibed with Bible, Greek and Mediterranean outlook imposed conditions of nationhood based on geography, language, culture, ethnicity and their primordial relations restricting the major part of the Globe as trivial in their inbred cognition. This has led scholars like Edward Said to denounce the Oriental mindset with colonial background that created the 'other' in contrast to the West. In the intellectual traditions of the West influenced by Gramsci, Foucalt and other critical schools of thought , this has introduced a new area of academic studies mostly incarcerating to cultural studies and related issues. However, it has limitations of theory and application to embrace the whole of humankind of the present day World since its inductive apparatus was limited to Europe and the Mediterranean.
